John James Haslett is born __________, 1883 (Birth Certificate Number 1883/181153) in ___________. He was the fourth child and second son to Sarah and William Haslett.

Not much is known of his childhood other than we could expect that it is much the same as his siblings and other children growing up in the area at the same time.

John meets and marries Clara Weston (Marriage Certificate number 1917/4670).

John passes away on 17 November 1918, aged 36 (Death Certificate Number 1918/8623).

One record we have for John is from 1921 in he New Zealand Herald on the 11 November where his parents placed a memorial note – it reads:-

Haslett – In fond memory of John James Haslett, who departed this life November 17, 1918. We often think of days gone by, when we were all together; A shadow o’er our life is cast, Our loved one gone for ever. – Inserted by his loving father and mother.
