    Hi how are you? My name is James Carey I am writing in regards to Emma Paraone (Brown) Kataraina Te Rimi Stanaway’s Daughter. I was wondering if you had any information on her yet please as I have been researching for quite some time also if there could be a possibility of being the same person I am looking for ??. My Second Great Grandparents on my mothers side names were Timoti Rikihana also known as (Timothy Dixon) From Kaihu,Kaipara (Wiremu Rikihana’s Son). Emma Brown was Timoti’s Wife/Partner and they had 6 children together as far as i know, one being my Great Grandfather Tangaroa Max Rikihana also known as (Max Rikihana/Dixon).
    From what I know Timoti, Emma and their daughter Bertha (Wuna) died at Norsewood 1918 from the Influenza pandemic and were buried there. On record at Norsewood there names were Timothy Dixon & Emma Dixon they were both 28 years old at the time of death which would make Emma’s date of birth around 1890 and their daughter was 3 yrs old. There is a Memorial for all three of them at Kaihu Cemetery on the headstone her name is (Emma Brown) although their remains are buried at Norsewood Cemetery Plot PB1-E9 Unmarked Grave at this stage I am unsure what Emma’s middle name is or parents names or as to why they were down at Norsewood at time of Death whether it be on a holiday or living. There is not much on record of them both and alot of their history as far as I know has been lost. I thought that it may been the same person because of the close living regions around that era and the same name. Any help would be greatly appreciated. At some stage I plan to do a dna test that may help in my endeavours to track down my lineage until then thankyou for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

      Thanks for the enquiry James – this one might be tricky, as we do not have much on Emma at all, in fact the only record was in the Tides and Time family tree book which had her marring a Sam Moiha and no children. and her being the 3rd child of 6 to Kataraina’s second marriage. I will contact you off line.

    Hi Greg, am wondering if the man im looking for is the same as Katairana’s grandson – Kapene Paraone. This is our great great grandfathers name and we have no record of whom where and when. The closest hint was passed on info from our grandparents of a captain in his family from England somewhere. Our family carry the surname Brown (Paraone) and no idea how we got it. He was most likely from the Waikato area.
